Our Research

Uppsala University and Uppsala University Hospital have a long-standing tradition of successful basic, translational, and clinical cancer research. Cancer is also one of the priority areas identified in the joint strategic documents adopted by Uppsala University and Region Uppsala. The research ranges from basic studies using cell models and animal experiments, through translational research with patient samples, to clinical trials involving both industry-sponsored and academic studies, as well as register-based studies with long-term follow-up. Uppsala boasts Sweden’s only Faculty of Pharmacy, offering exceptional opportunities for drug development. Moreover, the field of nursing science is expanding, particularly following the appointment of our new Professor of Cancer Care.

Uppsala Cancer Clinic Center (UCCC) conducts extensive and active research encompassing all aspects of cancer. The University and the Region have jointly supported research infrastructures essential for high-quality research. The Clinical Trials Unit at Uppsala University Hospital is committed to continuously including patients in clinical trials, increasing trial accessibility for patients from other regional hospitals, and facilitating the collection of biological samples. Through our Precision Medicine and ATMP (Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products) Centres, we enhance the implementation of research into clinical care.
